Project Overview
The primary purpose of the Dougherty Community Centre is to provide a community hub for Willoughby’s kaleidoscope of diverse community groups and Not for Profit service providers.
Wetherill Architects’ aim was to re-configure the centre internally and increase capacity to ensure it continues to be used as multi-purpose communal space that can meet community demand. This versatile centre has
various rooms to accommodate from 2 to 188 people.
The Dougherty Community Centre is used for a wide range of community activities including:
- Health and Exercise classes
- Music and Drama classes
- Language Classes
- Social Groups/Social Dances
- Social Support Groups
- Continuous Learning activities
- Concerts
- Aged Care Services
- Community Cafe and Catering
- Cooking classes
- Meetings
- Exhibitions
- Conferences
- Accessible and Dementia Friendly Space
