Project Overview

Twenty years on from the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Paddle Australia asked Wetherill Architects to revitalise Penrith Whitewater Stadium to support elite athletes’' performance, enhance facilities, and connect with the landscape.

The design process led to a proposal for a new High-Performance Centre featuring an ‘Easy River’ to boost accessibility and pathways into competition, alongside training spaces and a lifestyle café.

The envelope is conceived as a bushland shelter which in form responds to the undulating river.

An adventure zone and lakeside trail promote well-being, while on-site renewable energy aims to power surrounding facilities and local enterprise.
