Project Overview
St John Fisher Catholic Primary School, part of Catholic Schools of Broken Bay (CSBB), sits within a leafy, natural environment in Tumbi Umbi on the Central Coast. The existing campus is a collection of low-rise buildings nestled within native bushland.
The new development forms the first stage of a master plan to renew and expand teaching and learning facilities. Responding to the increasing value of land, the project introduces the campus’ first two-storey building, which will connect with future classrooms to the east.
The design is a simple, considered intervention defined by its sculptured roof form. Materials and colours are subtle and warm, drawn from the natural surrounds. Clerestory windows bring daylight deep into classrooms and reinforce a connection to the bushland beyond.
Courtyards and small outdoor gathering spaces offer places for students to meet, play, and engage with the outdoors. Concrete surfaces incorporate playful cast motifs created by a local form setter, adding texture and visual interest.
The project provides flexible, modern learning spaces intimately connected to the landscape. It balances functionality with a quiet, respectful presence, enhancing both the educational experience and the character of the campus.
